- Almost 50 per cent of Australian Champagne/Sparkling consumers surveyed found it difficult to open Champagne bottles*
- Keeping the bubbles fresh once the bottle is opened also proved a challenge with 1 in 10 surveyed resorting to placing a teaspoon in the bottle or using cling wrap or foil over the top of the bottle to keep the bubbles fresh*
- 30 per cent of respondents surveyed felt more comfortable handing the Champagne/Sparkling bottle to someone else to open*
The new closure provides more control when opening, while still featuring the traditional 'POP', and is completely resealable to keep the bubbles fresh.
"Zamphire by Evans & Tate was developed in response to a common Australian consumer insight that drinkers love Sparkling wine but if the bottle isn't finished the bubbles go flat. The resealable closure of Zamphire by Evans & Tate appeals to Sparkling wine consumers as it allows them to have a glass or two, reseal the bottle and save the rest for another day," said Katherine Ward, Spokesperson for Zamphire by Evans & Tate.
"Additionally, while Sparkling drinkers still love the traditional 'pop' of Sparkling wine they were intimidated by opening the bottle. Zamphire by Evans & Tate still delivers the traditional pop while allowing more control over the closure when opening."
Another benefit is the closure is 100 per cent recyclable and can be placed with all other recyclable material for collection and recycling.
In many ways, the new closure of Zamphire by Evans & Tate is Sparkling's equivalent to screw cap. With the wine protected against cork taint, this new closure brings the same benefits to Sparkling wine as screw cap closures did to table wine. Additionally, as the closure is reusable it keeps the bubbles fresh over a longer period of time and allows consumers to enjoy a glass as the occasion calls.
