INSTANT GOLD FOR essenze WHITE WINES
On home ground soil and within only two months of their launch, essenze demonstrated its extraordinary quality by winning gold for both its 2009 essenze Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and 2009 essenze Waipara Pinot Gris. The gold medals were won at the prestigious 2009 New Zealand International Wine Show.
"The 2009 vintage was such a strong vintage for white wines in both Marlborough and Waipara so the competition on the judging bench would have been pretty tough. For the two wines in their inaugural vintage to triumph in this very competitive arena showcases the strength of their quality," Corey Ryan, essenze Chief Winemaker said.
The gold medals for the essenze white wines are particularly important as the wines are judged against their peers, on home grown soil and by experts of New Zealand and international wine.
"The name essenze very much sums up these wines, they are the epitome of their New Zealand region and of varietal expression. We're very happy to have this recognised through these gold medals," Corey added.
The essenze range of wines has been created by a winemaker of remarkable aptitude and experience. With a strong sense of the regions gained from more than eight vintages in New Zealand, Corey Ryan has a deep and intimate knowledge of the terroir that makes New Zealand unique.
The essenze range includes a 2009 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, 2009 Waipara Pinot Gris and 2008 Central Otago Pinot Noir. The 2008 essenze Central Otago Pinot Noir was not entered in this show.
